This post, "Out at the World Cup," originated from gay4soccer.
UK blog Just a Ball Game has compiled a list of players who are out at the World Cup kicking off this weekend in Canada.
They have brought together the over a dozen players and one coach who have publicly come out as members of the LGBT community. It’s great to see them all as a part of international soccer and many have been a part of the United States’ domestic leagues:
USA’s Abby Wambach, formerly of the Western New York Flash
USA’s Megan Rapinoe, also of the Seattle Reign
Canada’s Erin McLeod, also of the Houston Dash
England’s Casey Stoney
England’s Lianne Sanderson, formerly of the Boston Breakers
Germany’s Nadine Angerer, also of the Portland Thorns
Sweden Coach Pia Sundhage, who formerly coached the USA
Sweden’s Caroline Seger
Sweden’s Hedvig Lindahl
Sweden’s Nilla Fischer
Sweden’s Lisa Dahlkvist
New Zealand’s Katie Duncan
Norway’s Isabell Herlovsen
Norway’s Trine Rønning
Australia’s Michele Heyman
